Besiktas line up shock offer to English star to replace Liverpool flop Karius

Besiktas are weighing up a move for Joe Hart to replace on-loan Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius, claim reports in Turkey.

Karius was sent out on a two-year loan to Besiktas in 2018 after a disastrous performance in the Champions League final loss to Real Madrid, with Alisson Becker proving to be a massive upgrade and helping the Reds win the trophy the season after.

Liverpool had hoped that Karius’ two-year spell away from Anfield would revive his career, but things have not gone exactly to plan, and Fanatik relay that it is now unlikely he will be bought permanently by the Turkish giants.

Karius may instead move back to the German Bundesliga, with Hertha Berlin interested in a move for the former Mainz goalkeeper.

And to replace him, Besiktas have drawn up a surprise name on their transfer shortlist – Burnley’s former England goalkeeper Joe Hart.

Having fallen out of favour under Pep Guardiola, Hart joined Burnley from Manchester City in the same summer that Karius left Liverpool – but just like the man he could replace at Besiktas, it hasn’t all worked out.

Nick Pope has established himself as number one at Turf Moor, and although Hart retains a glimmer of hope that he would regain the starting berth if his teammate was to be sold to a bigger club, he may not get that opportunity, with his contract running out at the end of the season.

According to Fanatik, Besiktas have now been offered the chance to sign Hart, who will want a salary of €2m for a two-year contract with the option of a third year.

This would not be beyond the Turkish club’s reach, so they are set to mull over the option before deciding whether to make a concrete offer to the English shot-stopper.
