Besiktas star happy that Crystal Palace move collapsed

Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun has admitted that he is happy that a proposed summer move to Crystal Palace never materialised.

It was claimed last month by Turkish outlet Fotomac that Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Tottenham have all been scouting Tosun.

The £18m-rated forward was also attracting interest from Spanish trio Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Sevilla.

However, Palace were the club most seriously linked with the 26-year-old, who used to play for Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

Tosun has insisted that he is glad a move to Selhurst Park never happened due to the fact he can continue to play Champions League football.

“About my transfer to Crystal Palace, I can say that I’m very happy the move failed,” Tosun told the Croydon Advertiser.

“Because I get to stay at the club and I am doing very well at the moment in both the league and the Champions League.”
