Bielsa reveals thoughts on Yorkshire life and Bruce cabbage incident

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has brushed off suggestions that Steve Bruce having a cabbage thrown at him was ‘barbaric’.

Villa are currently 12th in the Sky Bet Championship after winning just three of their first 11 league games this season.

Bruce had come under increasing pressure after Villa‘s poor start to the season and had a cabbage hurled at him during Tuesday night’s home draw with Preston.

“I don’t see this as barbaric as you do. But that is because you have better habits,” Bielsa told reporters.

The Argentine, who has set up base in North Yorkshire a short drive from the team’s Thorp Park training base, then went on to discuss Yorkshire culture.

“This is a countryside region. I’m a countryside man more than a city man. And I like fish and chips. But I like even more Argentinian meat.

“Apart from football I don’t know many things. You can some up my life with football and my family.

“Obsession is described as a virtue because we identify obsession with work. But when I’m too obsessive with my work, I know I’m close to failure.”
