Liam Feeney: Blackburn interest

Blackburn Rovers are set to beat Ipswich to the signing of former Bolton midfielder Liam Feeney, sources have told www.teamtalk.com.

Feeney, 29, is a free agent after seeing out his contract at Bolton this summer and Ipswich were favourites to land the midfielder after he spent the end of last season on loan at Portman Road.

However, Blackburn have made a late move for Feeney as new Rovers boss Owen Coyle looks to bolster his squad ahead of the next season.

Coyle, who was named as Blackburn’s new boss, earlier this month is understood to be an admirer of Feeney and sees him as a key addition to his plans at Ewood Park.

Feeney knows all about Blackburn having enjoyed a two-month loan spell at the club at the end of the 2013/14 season and it seems he is poised for a return to Ewood Park.

The news will come as a blow for Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy who was hoping to add former Millwall man Feeney to his squad for next season.
