Blades blunted by~good Evans

The Blades had won their previous three away games without conceding a goal – but they quickly came under the cosh against Glenn Roeder’s men.

In the fourth minute, Darren Huckerby drilled in a right-foot strike which drew a fine save from Paddy Kenny.

But in the 10th minute, a cross from the left by Huckerby found Evans who dispatched a fierce right-foot shot from 12 yards which flew into the top corner.

Jamie Cureton then went close with a couple of efforts, while Andy Marshall pulled off a great save to deny David Carney.

In the closing stages, United’s pressure looked to have told as Gary Cahill headed home Keith Gillespie’s cross. But the effort was disallowed – much to Norwich’s relief.
