Blow for Arsenal, Chelsea after 90-goal target’s agent ‘meets’ European giants; free transfer incoming

Eberechi Eze and Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace

Agent of Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha has been spotted watching Fenerbahce, fuelling speculation that he could join the Turkish club.

The 30-year-old’s contract will expire at the end of the season. The Eagles are desperately trying to tie him down to a new deal, but everything is pointing towards a departure.

Zaha has also been linked with moves to Arsenal and Chelsea. So, this news will come as a blow to them, as well as Crystal Palace.

Indeed, as reported by TEAMtalk, Mikel Arteta is thought to be a big admirer of Zaha. Given he is set to be available on a free transfer, bringing him in would’ve been a major bargain, too.

The Gunners manager is looking to bolster his squad ahead of next season, as he prepares for Champions League football.

Tottenham, on the other hand, could be forced to bring in a new centre-forward if Harry Kane leaves this summer. The England international has been heavily linked with a switch to Man Utd, for example.

However, it seems the London rivals will now have to look elsewhere for a new attacking addition.

Zaha agent ‘meets’ Fenerbahce leaders

According to Sports DigitaleZaha’s representative was in attendance as Fenerbahce beat Trabzonspor 3-1 on Thursday.

They add that the Ivory Coast international’s agent ‘met with the Turkish club’s leaders.’

As a result, a switch to Fenerbahce is looking increasingly likely. Interestingly, Fenerbahce’s rivals Galatasaray have also been linked with Zaha in recent weeks.

With Zaha currently sidelined through injury, he has probably played his last game for Crystal Palace. Unless, of course, Roy Hodgson can convince him to sign a new deal at the eleventh hour.

In a recent press conference, Hodgson said: “The injury seems to be more serious than we would like. I fear he will not play again this season but we live in hope.

“The club has had conversations with him (over a new contract) and those conversations will continue. I have no idea what the outcome will be, or how advanced they will be. All I can hope for as a Palace fan is you’ll be able to see him playing for Crystal Palace next season.”

A cult hero at Selhurst Park, Zaha has made a staggering 458 appearances for the Eagles. In the process, he has scored 90 goals, along with making 76 assists.

But, as mentioned, barring any late twists, it looks as if he will be leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the campaign.
