Boca Juniors have double Man Utd raid in mind amid Cavani links

Boca Juniors have an interest in Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero as well as striker Edinson Cavani, a report claims.

Cavani’s future has proved a topic of debate in recent weeks, amid links with the Argentine club. His father, Luis Cavani, revealed that there is a 60 per cent chance of his son leaving Old Trafford at the end of the season. Moreover, he pointed to Boca as a potential next destination for the forward.

According to ESPN Argentina, however, Boca are also targeting a move for Romero.

United put him on their free-to-leave list a long time ago, amid his status down the pecking order.

While he played in the cup games for the Red Devils last term, Dean Henderson’s arrival in the summer pushed him further out of contention.

As such, he was free to leave in both last summer’s transfer window and the recent January window.

But despite no clubs taking him on, his contract expires in the summer and Boca reportedly have their eye on a raid for his free-agent services at the end of the season.

ESPN Argentina claims that a board member at Boca has begun talks over the 34-year-old’s arrival.

Romero, Rojo set for United exit

Romero, Rojo set for United exit

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admits Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo's contracts at Manchester United won't be extended this summer but maintains they will be ready to play if required in the meantime.

However, there is no indication as to how far those discussions have progressed so far.

Boca have recently done business with United, signing Marcos Rojo in January.

Romero, meanwhile, played 17 times for United last season, including nine times in the Red Devils’ run to the Europa League semi-finals.

However, after failing to get a move away in last summer’s transfer window, his wife hit out at United.

Eliana Guercio said: “Sergio Romero worked hard for his club. Last trophy they won, they lifted it with him.

“He helped the team reach 4 finals/semi finals and then he was left on the bench only to lose them all. It is time for them to return the opportunity and let him go. RESPECT FOR ONCE!!!!”

Man Utd starlet thinking about fresh loan

Meanwhile, United starlet Tahith Chong has revealed that he could be open to another spell at Club Brugge.

Chong became a Red Devils player in 2016 and left on loan for Werder Bremen last summer.

However, that spell did not go to plan for the winger, so he made the switch to Brugge in January. He has impressed in his time in Belgium so far.
