Atletico Madrid star Jan Oblak has dropped a hint that he could leave the club despite penning a new bumper deal with the LaLiga side.

Recent reports suggested that Manchester United are thinking about ‘triggering’ Oblak’s €120million release clause at Atletico, which only increased by €20million when he signed a new contract in April.

With David De Gea increasingly likely to leave Old Trafford this summer after refusing to extend his contract, which has just a year left to run, United are scouring the market for a replacement.

The report added that the United board think the fee would ‘be excellent value for a player considered one of the world’s best in his position’.

Now, Slovenia international Oblak has offered the huge hope by suggesting he is only happy to stay at the Wanda Metropolitana if he feels Atleti are matching his ambition.

“I signed a new contract, but that does not change anything,” Oblak told Ekipa.

“I will stay at Atletico as long as their ambitions match mine. And some people might think their ambitions have lowered, as big players have left.

“I am sure the club will do everything possible to sign quality players. When I signed my new contract they gave me guarantees about the club’s ambition.

“They said the aspirations were not going to change.”
