Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka has told star centre-back Ben Gibson to stay grounded amid reports of a £30million move to Chelsea.

Gibson has reportedly emerged as the Blues’ top defensive target with Antonio Conte on the hunt for John Terry’s long-term replacement at Stamford Bridge.

“Ben Gibson is playing well has a lot of potential, and a lot of people are talking about him,” Karanka said at his latest press conference.

“He has to keep focused on his football.”

Chelsea had enquired about Gibson’s availability in the summer and are set to test Middlesbrough’s resolve again at the end of the season.
