Bournemouth star giving Liverpool, Chelsea transfer talk short shrift

Lewis Cook insists his only focus is on playing football again after the Bournemouth midfielder batted away speculation suggesting both Liverpool and Chelsea were pondering moves to sign him in January.

The 22-year-old former Leeds star has made five appearances this season after returning from the serious ACL injury which ended his 2018/19 campaign last December.

And it seems the England capped midfielder has picked up where he left off, with his performances already catching the eye and leading to reports he is being watched again by Jurgen Klopp ahead of the January window, while Chelsea, subject to their transfer sanctions being lifted, are also reported to be keen on the £30m-rated star.

However, speaking to the Bournemouth Echo, the 22-year-old has made it clear that he wants to focus on his football and is giving links elsewhere little attention.

“I had been out for a long time, so I am just focusing on Bournemouth at the moment,” Cook insisted.

“I am loving being back and playing football. I just forget about it [the speculation] really.

“You’ve just got to focus on your football here and keep enjoying it.”
