Talks ‘advanced’ for Man Utd duo’s exits with one star fuming at Solskjaer

Manchester United duo Brandon Williams and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are reportedly close to leaving the club, with the latter looking to make a permanent exit.

Both players have struggled for minutes this season, making only 10 appearances between them.

Indeed, left-back Williams is behind Luke Shaw and October signing Alex Telles in the pecking order.

On the opposite flank, meanwhile, Fosu-Mensah has not mounted a serious challenge to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Previous reports have claimed that Newcastle are keen on taking Williams out on loan in January. According to Todofichajes, talks between the Magpies and United over the deal are at a ‘very advanced’ stage.

As such, the deal could go through in the ‘coming days’, the source says.

Newcastle will reportedly hold an option to buy Williams at the end of the six-month loan. However, this seems unlikely with the 20-year-old recently signing a new deal at Old Trafford.

Williams burst onto the scene last season and can play at either left-back or right-back. However, he has struggled to make his mark on the team this term, especially with Telles’ arrival.

Indeed, the Englishman has only made one Premier League appearance lasting six minutes. In the Champions League, meanwhile, he has played twice for a total of an hour.

Fosu-Mensah is another player who Todofichajes claims will soon leave Old Trafford.

Fosu-Mensah could be France-bound

In a separate report, the source claims that Marseille are working on signing the defender. The Ligue 1 club’s sporting director Pablo Longoria is trying to convince him to move to France.

In any case, though, he has reportedly decided to leave after becoming frustrated with his lack of action.

Fosu-Mensah reportedly feels underplayed by head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and he is already listening to the offers that come his way.

Unlike Williams, though, Fosu-Mensah’s contractual situation is much less secure as his deal runs out next summer.

Therefore, if he is not going to extend terms, United will have to sell him in January to recoup a fee for his departure.

Fosu-Mensah has only played three times this term – twice in the Champions League and once in the league.
