Brentford ‘to swoop’ for wantaway Liverpool star who’s in an ‘impossible’ situation despite ‘doing nothing wrong’

Brentford will move for a Liverpool player who’s never let Jurgen Klopp down, though is being tipped to leave for a bargain sum due to an ‘impossible’ situation, per reports.

The selection for Brentford’s player of the year this season will be an easy one when the campaign concludes. Ivan Toney has breached the 20-goal mark and provided a reminder in defeat to Liverpool on Saturday evening of just how difficult he is to face.

Second place in the voting may well go to goalkeeper David Raya who has once again proven himself to be among the league’s finest stoppers this term.

However, the 27-year-old Spain international looks certain to leave Brentford at season’s end. Raya has rejected two extensions thus far and is not expected to change his tune.

As such, and with his deal expiring at the end of next season, Brentford will cash in while they still can this summer.

The Daily Mail named Tottenham as a potential next club for Raya. Elsewhere, the Sun list Man Utd if Erik ten Hag pursues a high-class back-up to David de Gea.

Regardless, today’s update centres around who Brentford will sign to fill the void left by Raya and per the Sun, he’ll come from Liverpool.

Unmoveable Alisson to spark Kelleher exit

The publication state Brentford will swoop for 24-year-old Ireland international, Caoimhín Kelleher.

Kelleher is understood to be seeking regular game-time moving forwards and unfortunately for the player, that cannot happen at Anfield.

Alisson Becker is arguably the world’s best goalkeeper and aged 30, still has plenty of prime years ahead.

The Liverpool Echo previously termed Kelleher’s situation at Anfield as ‘impossible’ and backed up the claims he could depart despite ‘doing nothing wrong’.

On the contrary, Kelleher has always excelled in his rare outings in red which have primarily come in the cup competitions.

However, he could finally be given a chance to prove his worth in the Premier League next year through joining Brentford. The Bees are deemed to be heading the queue of those hoping to sign him.

Liverpool reportedly won’t stand in Kelleher’s way after years of playing second fiddle on the bench. A modest £10m-£12m price tag is projected for a player who could quickly make a mockery of that valuation.

Brighton are another showing interest in Kelleher, though they already have two established keepers in Jason Steele and Robert Sanchez.
