The Excelsior Rotterdam boss will succeed Mark Warburton in the Griffin Park hotseat for next season’s Championship campaign.

Dijkhuizen, 43, played as a striker at several Dutch clubs as well as Dunfermline in the Scottish Premier League,

The Dutchman took over at Excelsior in 2014, guiding them to 15th on one of the smallest budgets in the Eredivisie.

Dijkhuizen, when asked about the link with the Bees, said: “I am not saying that I’m leaving, only that there is interest in me. I cannot tell you any more right now but this week I’m going to have a conversation with the club and then we’ll see.”
