Brighton have reached an agreement in principle to sign Moises Caicedo after Manchester United failed to submit an offer for the Ecuadorian, claims reports.
The Metro, Daily Mail and Daily Express all claim a deal with Brighton has been agreed, but quote ‘sources”.
In fact those sources come in the form of SportItalia and TuttoMercatoWeb journalist Gianluigi Longari. Lonfgari reports a proposal from Brighton.
Meanwhile, Sabastian Machado, an Ecuadorian journalist says an agreement is in place with Brighton and Independiente del Valle.
He points to a good relationship between Brighton and Independiente after a deal that took Billy Arce from Ecuador to Brighton in 2018.
Brighton have made an offer for midfielder Caicedo with Independiente del Valle wanting an initial £5.5m fee plus add-ons, as well as a 20 per cent sell-on clause.

Previous speculation has said that the 19-year-old and his agent were supposedly “locked in” for a move to Manchester United.
However, Independiente del Valle’s general manager, Santiago Morales, denied that United had made an approach.
“There is interest from various teams for Moises Caicedo and we believe that we will not have him this year,” Morales told Radio La Red.
“There is much speculation with Moises Caicedo, but we haven’t had any communication with Manchester United.
“We are surprised that they even talk about values, but we haven’t spoken with Manchester United. Although we have spoken with other great teams in the world.”
It seems United have distanced themselves from a move for Caicedo after initially making contact with the player’s agents.
The Manchester Evening News explained how a deal could go through in the New Year, but United have not followed up their interest,
Instead interest from West Ham, Chelsea and Everton surfaced in recent days.
What’s more, TuttoMercatoWeb also claimed that two more clubs had come forward looking to sign Caicedo.
MLS sides Atlanta United and Inter Miami wanted to lure the player to the USA. However, the report adds that their efforts look to be in vain, despite a concrete offer from the former.
