Bristol Rovers will be without the suspended Ben Swallow for the local derby.

Midfielder Swallow was sent off for a two-footed lunge late on in the Pirates’ 6-1 FA Cup second-round win at AFC Totton on Sunday and serves the first game of a three-match ban for the visit of the Robins.

Striker Eliot Richards is pushing for a start after coming off the bench to score twice in the same match, but the Welshman will have to oust Mustapha Carayol or Chris Zebroski.

Rovers are likely to be without veteran striker Scott McGleish (ankle), while experienced centre-back Adam Virgo has been ruled out for the season with knee ligament damage.

Midfielder Wayne Brown (ankle) could also be unavailable for the rest of the term.

Meanwhile, Swindon will be without key man Matt Ritchie on Saturday.

Winger Ritchie, who has been a prominent figure in the Robins’ recent 13-match unbeaten run in all competitions, picked up his fifth booking of the season at Southend in the Johnstone’s Paints Trophy southern section area semi-final on Tuesday and serves a one-match ban.

Lander Gabilondo and Etienne Esajas will both be looking to make the most of the ex-Portsmouth player’s suspension at the Memorial Stadium.

Striker Alan Connell will also be absent for Town. The former Grimsby frontman picked up an injury at Roots Hall in midweek and will not be fit enough to feature for manager Paolo Di Canio against Rovers.

Attacker Raffaele De Vita is expected to come back into the Swindon side after being rested in the JPT victory over the Shrimpers, while Simon Ferry is challenging for a starting berth in the middle of midfield.

Bristol Rovers have a fully-fit squad for their showdown with rivals Swindon.

Dave Penney is looking to record his first win in charge but will be without defender Danny Coles, who is currently serving a four-match suspension after his dismissal against Carlisle.

Loanee David McCracken made his Rovers debut in the 0-0 draw at home to Hartlepool in midweek and looks set to continue in defence.

The Pirates have not won in 12 league matches and currently sit 22nd in League One.

Top scorer Will Hoskins has scored six of the club’s last eight goals, taking his tally for the season to 14 and he will once again be partnered in attack by Jo Kuffour.

Swindon face a further defensive reshuffle.

Left-back Michael Rose saw red in last Saturday’s desperately disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Yeovil and now starts his suspension, although Alan Sheehan’s return from a thigh problem is timely and he will slot in.

Sean Morrison, left out of the XI to face the Glovers, has now completed his transfer to Reading for an undisclosed fee.

But fellow centre-back Andy Frampton may return to contention having missed out last weekend with a groin strain, leaving manager Danny Wilson with plenty to ponder at the back.

Goalkeeper David Lucas (knee) remains sidelined.

Much of the pre-match speculation continues to surround striker Charlie Austin and this week’s unconfirmed reports of a written transfer request on his part, although the 21-year-old is still certain to start.
