Bury v Southend preview

Bury will be at full strength as they bid to break into the automatic promotions spots when Southend visit the JD Stadium.

Striker Tom Eaves was withdrawn after just 35 minutes of the 1-0 victory over Portsmouth, but that change was tactical and his replacement Ryan Lowe got the winner which gave the Shakers a club-record seventh straight away win and left their top-three chances in their own hands.

Both Lowe and fellow veteran forward Daniel Nardiello will by vying for a spot in David Flitcroft’s attack if Eaves drops out, while Danny Mayor is expected to continue in midfield having been named the League Two Player of the Year on Sunday night.

The Shakers are also expecting a bumper crowd after announcing admission for this rearranged clash will be free of charge to both home and away supporters.

Captain John White has a chance of returning to Southend’s fold.

The right-back missed Saturday’s 1-0 win over Exeter, the sixth straight triumph for Phil Brown’s men, and now has what his manager has described as an “80 per cent” chance of making the trip to Bury.

Should White miss out once more, midfielder Ryan Leonard will fill the void in the back four after impressing in that role against the Grecians.

Top scorer Barry Corr has not started the last two games having been given time off for a family problem but, with the stakes so high, Brown could be tempted to bring him straight back into the XI.
