Jack Butland: Fractured ankle in win over Germany

Stoke and England goalkeeper Jack Butland could be out for a futher two months after he confirmed that he will undergo a minor operation.

Butland fractured his ankle in England’s 3-2 friendly win against Germany in March and there is still some scar tissue which is preventing him from stepping up his recovery.

The news will come as a blow for both Stoke and England fans, as he may have to wait until November at the earliest to be back between the sticks and push Joe Hart for the England No.1 spot.

The Potters did give a slight indication that they were not expecting Butland to return any time soon after they signed Lee Grant from Derby on a short-term loan deal on transfer deadline day.
