Caglar Soyuncu’s summer transfer to Arsenal branded fake news

Caglar Soyuncu’s proposed summer transfer to Arsenal  has been labelled “total nonsense” by Freiburg director Jochen Saier.

The Freiburg centre-back was believed to have agreed a move to The Emirates after impressing for club an country.

The Gunners have scouted the 21-year-old and yesterday the president of Soyuncu’s former club Altinordu, Seyit Mehmet Ozkan, claimed a deal was almost done.

Ozkan told the International Football Economic Forum: “Caglar Soyuncu is set to join Arsenal.

“Arsenal demanded his youth information from us. We’ll earn from him if he joins Arsenal. Bayern Munich wants him too, but he’s on the way to the Premier League.”

However, the Turkey international defender’s current club have denied those claims.

Saier told Bild: “Ozkan can know little about the overall scenario. This is total nonsense. Arsenal did not contact me and there is no offer.”

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are also believed to be watching the player, while Manchester United, Manchester City Liverpool, Chelsea and Roma have all been credited with an interest in Soyuncu.

Soyuncu has made rapid progress in the Bundesliga since his move from Altindoru in 2016, making 29 appearances for the 15th-placed Bundesliga side.

Soyuncu is under contract until 2021, and according to the report last month, he will cost around £30million.
