Former England boss Fabio Capello has encouraged Juventus to sign Raul Jimenez as he could be the “ideal” man to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
Jimenez is the subject of interest from around Europe after an eye-catching season for Wolves.
The Mexican scored 27 goals in all competitions as the Midlands club finished seventh in the Premier League. They also reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League before losing to Sevilla earlier this month.
His performances have caught the eye of the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal, who have been tipped to make offers. Liverpool could also make a surprise swoop as they look for back up to established front man Roberto Firmino.
But Capello has told Juventus to steal in and sign Jimenez as it could bring the best out of Ronaldo.
Talking to ESPN, cited on Goal, the Italian said: “He is a great player who has lots of talent. Ideal to play alongside Ronaldo.
“Because Cristiano has been missing a [Karim] Benzema at Juventus, that could be Raul.”
Despite hitting 37 goals last term, there is a feeling that Ronaldo could be even better with some changes to those around him.
The ‘Old Lady’ currently have Gonzalo Higuain up front, but he scored just eight league goals in 2019/20.
With Andrea Pirlo gearing up for his first year in charge, Higuain’s spot could be under threat.
Juventus transfer chief to fly into London
Fabio Paratici, the man in charge of Juventus’ transfer dealings, will reportedly arrive in England soon as he looks to finalise a deal for a striker.
Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette is believed to be his number one target, with the Frenchman looking likely to leave the Emirates.
But should a deal for the Frenchman fail to materialise, Jimenez is understood to be the Italian giants’ plan B.
