Ancelotti hatches plan to replace Real Madrid stalwart with Leicester ace

Leicester City star Youri Tielemans is of interest to Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid, according to a report.

The 24-year-old has become one of the top midfielders in the Premier League in recent years. He featured in all 38 matches last term as the Foxes qualified for the Europa League.

Tielemans has already got off the mark this season with a goal against West Ham. He has also registered assists against Brighton and Burnley in Leicester’s last two games.

But rumours in Spain now suggest this could be his last season at the King Power.

El Nacional write that Ancelotti is hoping to land the Belgium international next summer.

He wants to improve his midfield and views Tielemans as an ideal solution. The player would supposedly come in to replace Casemiro, whom Ancelotti doesn’t seem to fancy.

Tielemans’ versatility is apparently enticing Ancelotti into a bid. He can operate in pretty much any central midfield role and often pops up with goals and assists.

The likes of Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland will be prioritised by Real, but a bid for Tielemans could follow in the summer.

Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans is attracting interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona, with more news on Luis Alberto and Robin Gosens.

Real will face competition from England for his services. Liverpool are keen admirers after having lost Gini Wijnaldum on a free earlier this year.

Tielemans is viewed as a natural successor in Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven. One sticking point for the Reds is Leicester’s willingness to engage in talks.

If they have to sell, they are far more likely to negotiate with a Spanish club rather than an English rival.

Tielemans came through the ranks at Anderlecht and made his senior debut in 2013. He would play for the club 185 times before Monaco came calling in July 2017.

Leicester soon became aware of his development and launched a bid in January 2019.  He joined the Foxes for £40m following an initial loan spell.

Brendan Rodgers is reportedly monitoring Luis Alberto as a potential replacement for Tielemans.

The Spaniard left Anfield in 2016 to join Italian side Lazio. He has since become a reliable performer at the Stadio Olimpico, appearing 40 times in 2020-21.

Spanish source Fichajes (via Goal) claim that Leicester could move for Alberto. He is seen as a perfect fit for Rodgers’ system.

He is valued by Transfermarkt at £40.5m, the second highest in Lazio’s squad.
