Carrick concern for United after England withdrawal
Manchester United are sweating on the fitness of Michael Carrick ahead of Saturday’s clash with Liverpool after the midfielder withdrew from the England squad.
Carrick, who has made two starts and appeared from the bench twice in the Premier League so far this season, has been ruled out of Tuesday night’s Euro 2016 qualifying clash with Switzerland at Wembley.

The nature of the 34-year-old’s injury was not disclosed, but the holding midfielder must now be a doubt for Louis van Gaal.
Carrick has 33 England caps but has not played for Roy Hodgson’s men since March’s draw in Italy, missing the last three matches.
His absence means Swansea midfielder Jonjo Shelvey could get another opportunity against Switzerland, having played against San Marino.
Hodgson’s side are bidding for the three points which would secure top spot in Group E.
