On-loan Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos has contacted Real Madrid president Florentino Perez directly to request that his temporary stay in North London is made permanent, according to reports.
Ceballos, who made only 17 appearances for Los Blancos in the previous two seasons combined, has played 11 times for the Gunners since moving onloan the Emirates in the summer, scoring one goal and assisting two others in that time.
With the 23-year-old enjoying life under Unai Emery, Spanish news outlet El Desmarque reports that Ceballos has asked Madrid chief Perez directly to open talks with Arsenal about extending his Arsenal career.
The source says that the Spanish international has even persuaded Perez to negotiate a deal in January, with Madrid said to be looking for three times the €14m fee they paid for Ceballos in 2017 when he arrived from Real Betis.
Any deal is said to also hinge on whether Zinedine Zidane is still with Madrid in the summer, given that the Frenchman and Ceballos have a strained working relationship.
Madrid lost 1-0 to Mallorca in La Liga on Saturday and go into Tuesday’s Champions League clash away at Galatasaray needing to win having lost and drawn their opening two games to Paris Saint-Germain and Club Brugge, respectively.
