Cech keen to stay in London

The 33-year-old Czech Republic international goalkeeper is currently with his national side ahead of their European Qualifier against Iceland on Friday.

Sources in his homeland understand Cech, who has one year remaining on his contract, will meet with Chelsea on Monday along with his representatives and learn the minimum fee required for his transfer.

Cech is hoping the Blues do not block a move to a Premier League top-four rival if the fee is right as he is keen to remain in the division in which he has spent the past 11 years.

Cech spent last season as second choice to Thibaut Courtois, the first time he has not been No 1 at Stamford Bridge since he joined Chelsea in 2004 – and he has made no secret of his desire to leave the club as a result.

Chelsea are keen to retain his services but manager Jose Mourinho has also said publicly they will show respect for a player who has been a long-term, consistent performer at the highest level and captained the team on many occasions.

Cech, who has made over 500 appearances for Chelsea, began his career at Chmel Bisany and then Sparta Prague in his home country before a two-year spell with Rennes.
