Celtic ace speaks out amid talk £10m Man Utd transfer is on cards

Kieran Tierney has batted off transfer talk as Manchester United reportedly prepare to make a summer move for the full-back.

The 20-year-old, who has captained Celtic this season, has been linked to United previously, but Jose Mourinho is believed to have stepped up the chase for the Scotland international as he looks for new left-back.

Luke Shaw is set to leave Old Trafford and 32-year-old Ashley Young’s future is far from assured and Tierney has risen to the top of the lost of replacements.

The Manchester Evening News report that United have been monitoring Tierney’s development for the best part of 18 months

Tierney, who can play right-back and in a back three, was to be watched by Mourinho against Costa Rica last month – only for Tierney to pull out through injury.

And scouts were due to watch him in action during Celtic’s 4-0 win against Rangers on Sunday but the youngster, who recently penned a new six-year contract is not thinking of leaving his boyhood club.

“I’m not thinking about anyone other than Celtic just now,” Tierney told The Times.

“I’m enjoying my career here; I’ve just signed a six-year deal [until 2023], so if that doesn’t say long-term, I don’t know what does.

According to the Mirror, United are making plans for Tierney’s arrival this summer and they believe they could sign him for as little as £10million.

That valuation looks ridiculously low for a player, who signed for Celtic when he was just seven and who has come through the ranks and developed into a star performer and one of Brendan Rodgers’ prized assets.
