Chadli wants Benteke at Spurs

Benteke has been linked with a big money move away from Aston Villa, with Liverpool and Spurs among the clubs reportedly interested in signing the striker who is set to be offered a new deal at Villa Park according to chief executive Tom Fox.

He is not the only Belgium star potentially on the move to a Premier League club this summer.

Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan has been on Manchester United’s radar and defender Toby Alderweireld, who made a big impression at Southampton – on loan from Atletico Madrid – has a host of suitors including Tottenham and Chelsea.

However Benteke, who scored 15 goals in 34 games last season, is sure to be in high demand after his fantastic end to last season and despite having two years remaining on his contract at Villa Park, Villa could be powerless to stop him leaving due to a £32.5m buyout clause.

Tottenham had several offers for the striker rejected two years ago. They eventually bid more than £21m but Villa wanted at least £25m. That summer Benteke signed a new contract that included the buyout.

Chadli is encouraging several of his national team-mates to consider a move to the Premier League – and particular to Spurs.

He told Sky Sports News HQ he would “love” to play alongside Benteke at White Hart Lane.

Chadli said: “I hope it’s going to happen but first they have to attract him and there are a lot of clubs who want him – and Christian has to make his choice.

“Hopefully he’s going to choose for us.”

Before any of the Belgians can consider a move, they must first turn their attention to the European Qualifier against Wales in Cardiff on Friday night.

The match could determine the winner of Group B, an achievement Chadli believes both teams will try to claim by playing attacking football.

“Wales want to finish also as high as possible and take the first place, we always play to win, and we want to win this game,” Chadli said.

“I think it’s going to be an open game.”
