Chelsea are reported to have had a £32million bid for Andre Gomes rejected by Valencia.

Portugal international Gomes has caught the eye of Europe’s biggest clubs during the last 12 months at the Mestella following his move from Benfica a year ago.

Sky Sports report Chelsea have submitted an offer for the midfielder, who played in Portugal’s 1-1 draw with Iceland at Euro 2016, but the bid is said to be £10million short of Valencia’s valuation.

Benfica are due 25 per cent of any fee Valencia receive, according to Sky, which leaves the La Liga club keen to drive the price up as they seek a profit of £32million for Gomes.

Chelsea are said to be unwilling to go to £42million and are considering their next move.

Gomes joined Valencia on a permanent deal last summer for around £12million after spending the previous season on loan with Los Che.

The 22-year-old scored four goals and registered seven assists in 41 appearances last season.
