Chelsea have agreed a fee of €40million with Juventus for one of their defenders, according to the latest reports from Italy.

Mediaset Premium claims that the Blues have struck an agreement with the Serie A champions over Italy international Daniele Rugani.

Former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is set to take the helm at Stamford Bridge and knows Rugani well from his time at Empoli.

As a result, Sarri has reportedly requested that the Chelsea board bring the 23-year-old to West London, with the player having failed to secure a starting berth under Max Allegri at Juve.

The agent of Rugani did recently hint that his client could move to Chelsea this summer.

“It’s obvious to say that the Sarri issue must be resolved first,” he told Sportitalia.

“After that, we can proceed with the negotiations and make them more or less concrete.”

His client has voiced his frustration at a lack of first-team chances in Turin and now looks set to move on after Juve decided to cash in.
