Chelsea and Spurs face fresh competition to land €40m Dutch sensation

Serie A giants Roma have joined the race to sign a reported Tottenham and Chelsea target, according to reports from Italy.
Donny van de Beek has caught the eye for the Dutch giants this season, and the Blues are reported to have sent scouts to watch him in action earlier this month, while Calciomercato recently suggested that Mauricio Pochettino’s men are leading the charge for Van de Beek.
The young Netherlands star has also been linked with Barcelona, who are also keen on his teammate Frenkie De Jong.
Ajax are apparently reluctant to lose any of their young core – which includes the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie De Jong.
However, a report from Corriere dello Sport suggests that Roma have now entered the running for Donny van de Beek as they eye midfield reinforcements.
The capital club are fearful of losing Lorenzo Pellegrini to the Premier League, while there are also question marks over whether they adequately replaced summer departures Radja Nainggolan and Kevin Strootman.
While Van de Beek is contracted until the summer of 2022, it’s thought a solid bid in the €40m region will convince Ajax to sell.
The report does state that the Dutch giants are keen on avoiding a similar situation to the one which saw Justin Kluivert leave for Roma by tying him down to a new deal.
