Chelsea attacking target favours Premier League move over Italy stay

Gonzalo Higuain

Reported Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain would rather move to Stamford Bridge than AC Milan, according to an Italian journalist.

Higuain has been linked with a departure from Serie A champions Juventus, with Maurizio Sarri interested in a reunion with the player he coached at Napoli. A swap deal with Milan which would see Leonardo Bonucci return to Turin has also been suggested.

However, Tancredi Palmeri claims that Higuain would prefer to join the Blues than Milan. Answering a fan question on Twitter, the reporter said:  “At the moment is off nowhere: Milan are the most serious but he is preferring Chelsea, that aren’t offering anything near to what Juventus want.”

Despite these links, Chelsea may not be moving for the Argentina striker after all, with Sarri pleased with what he has seen from Alvaro Morata in pre-season so far.

Alvaro Morata TEAMtalk

Morata has been linked with a move away from London after a mixed first season, but Sarri insisted there could be a place in his plans for the Spanish striker. He said: “Gonzalo Higuain? I’m still waiting for the best version of Morata. In the first match Morata did not play very well, in Australia. But this evening [against Inter], especially in the first thirty minutes, he improved a lot.

“I am satisfied and I have a lot of confidence in him for the future.”
