Tiemoue Bakayoko

Out-of-favour Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is on the verge of joining AC Milan on a permanent deal, according to reports in Italy.

Bakayoko joined the Blues in 2017 for around £40m, making him the club’s second most expensive transfer ever at the time.

The Frenchman struggled to stamp his mark on the Premier League though. He has spent the last two seasons out on loan, and now Chelsea want him to leave on a permanent deal.

Bakayoko spent the 2018/19 season with ‎Il Rossoneri, who are now closing on a permanent deal.

According to Sky Sport Italia, via Sport Witness, a deal is ‘not far off’.

As per the report, Milan are willing to pay Chelsea an initial €3m loan fee which contains an option to buy in 2021 for €30m.

Furthermore, Bakayoko has already agreed personal terms at the San Siro.

However, it’s claimed Milan are in no rush to push the deal through just yet. The Italian club’s priority is qualifying for the Europa League – which will then determine their ambitions in the transfer market.

Bakayoko’s deal at Stamford Bridge expires in 2022 and it would be extremely unlikely if he’s ever seen in a Chelsea shirt again.

The €30m fee is a reduction on the €35m Chelsea were seeking for the player back in 2018.

Zouma explains Werner’s Liverpool plan

In other Chelsea news, defender Kurt Zouma says Timo Werner is out to follow up his impressive debut with another strong performance against Liverpool.

Germany international striker Werner was influential against Brighton on Monday, winning a first-half penalty. Indeed, his pace allowed him to reach a wayward pass and catch Mathew Ryan off guard in his area.

Chelsea follow up that game by hosting Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Liverpool won both Premier League games last term, beating the Blues 2-1 in south-west London last September.

However, Zouma believes Chelsea’s new “weapons” – which also include Kai Havertz – can help his side improve.
