Fenerbahce wonderkid Omer Beyaz is catching the eye of Chelsea, who are considering a January approach, according to reports.
The 17-year-old is regarded as Turkey’s brightest star of the future and has drawn favourable comparisons with Mesut Ozil.
Predictably, that has also led to interest from some of European football’s big hitters.
Earlier this year, Beyaz was linked with both Manchester United and Manchester City, as well as Barcelona.
The midfielder though has spoken out about his future and says he is not currently considering an exit.
“The interest from the European clubs makes me more determined to do well at Fenerbahce first,” he told Fanatik.
“It feels great to be wanted but I am not considering a transfer right now.
“My dream right now is to serve Fenerbahce, our captain Emre Belozoglu and coach Volkan Demirel have been advising me well.”
And while Beyz has broken through into the first-team picture this season, his time in Turkey could be coming to a close.
Indeed, Don Balon claims Chelsea are preparing a move to take Beyaz to Stamford Bridge.
It’s reported that Chelsea scouts have alerted Frank Lampard to his potential and Beyaz is seen as a star of the future.
Chelsea could look to sign the midfielder in January, but allow him to stay with Fener for the remainder of the season.
The Blues have invested heavily this summer and Beyaz would be very much seen as one for the future were they to land him.
Kante targets title challenge
Chelsea spent more heavily than any other Premier League in the summer transfer window. They completed big-money deals for signings such as Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
Their ambition in the transfer market led some to predict they could compete for the Premier League title this season. They are doing their best to keep pace so far, having only lost once in the top flight.
Assessing their title prospects, Kante said: “The team has changed in recent years, the coach has been here for a year working together.
“I think we have signed a fair amount of new players and what we are trying to do is to maintain Chelsea’s standards, win titles and be at the top in England.”
Kante continued: “We are well placed at the moment, I hope we will continue in this vein.
“And I hope that we will qualify for the Champions League as quickly as possible again.”
