Chelsea choose successor to Conte; one major condition revealed

Chelsea have reportedly identified their number one target to replace Antonio Conte, but he will have to accept one condition before joining.

Current Blues boss Conte has just over a year left on his current deal, but there is speculation he could leave the club in the summer.

The 48-year-old has been linked with a number of roles back in Italy, including the national team job and the AC Milan job.

According to the Telegraph, former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique is Roman Abramovich’s first choice to take the reigns should Conte depart.

However, the Blues are not willing to pay the £16.5million-a-year he pocketed at the Nou Camp, where he led Barca to back-to-back titles.

Instead, the Telegraph report claims that Chelsea are only willing to offer Enrique £9.5m-a-year, the same as what Conte currently earns.

Alessandro Costacurta admitted recently to Gazzetta dello Sport that he wishes to sign Conte as the Italian national team boss.

“I haven’t chosen yet, but I think Conte is the one who could do the best,” he said.

“I’ll definitely talk with him in a couple of months.”
