Chelsea close in on Sarri after major development on Conte future

Chelsea have reportedly agreed compensation terms with manager Antonio Conte and his backroom staff as they close in on a new boss.
The Sun states that the Blues are set to appoint Maurizio Sarri as their new coach after reaching a £9.5million agreement to terminate the contracts of Conte and his coaches.
The former Napoli manager is poised to succeed his fellow Italian at The Bridge after Conte failed to deliver Champions League football in what was a woeful Premier League title defence from the west London outfit.
Conte’s future at Chelsea has been unclear now for some months now, with Laurent Blanc, Luis Enrique and Zinedine Zidane all being linked to take his place.
Chelsea did finish the season on a high by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final, but their fifth-placed league finish is what has ultimately cost Conte his job.
Sarri will need to get to work immediately, as the Blues step up their interest in summer transfer targets, although one of his first jobs will be trying to stop star midfielder N’Golo Kante joining PSG.
