Radamel Falcao: Struggled to make an impact at Chelsea

Chelsea flop Radamel Falcao could be set to have his loan spell at Stamford Bridge cut short after returning to Monaco for an injury assessment.

Striker Falcao, who endured a terrible season at Manchester United last term, has scored one goal in 11 appearances since joining Chelsea in the summer.

A thigh injury has kept the 29-year-old out since October 31 and the Blues want to terminate his season-long loan deal this month.

However, according to the Daily Telegraph, Monaco want to be sure of the Colombian’s fitness before sanctioning his return.

MLS side Columbus Crew want to sign the former Atletico Madrid hitman but as their season does not start until March, Monaco are likely to keep Falcao until the end of the current campaign.

Chelsea interim boss Guus Hiddink faces a shortage of options up front and has so far blocked Aston Villa’s attempts to sign Loic Remy.

Patrick Bamford has recently returned from a loan spell at Crystal Palace and could be handed a first-team opportunity by Hiddink.

Jackson Martinez is reported to be one target for the Blues, who are still willing to allow Falcao to depart such has been his lack of impact.
