Shrewsbury tie
There’ll be many of this forum that aren’t that arsed if we lose this, well, I AM!
Any victory is a confidence booster and no better confidence booster is there than for the second/third string etc. Great exposure and experience for Neil Critchley’s lads.
I know Klopp doesn’t want any first teamers involved but I thought it would have been a good game for the likes of Keita, Lallana and Minamino to be involved in especially with the first two coming back from injury/ilness (yet again!) and for Minamino to get more game time under his belt. But, pleased for Neil and his charges to represent the club in this 4th round replay.
Shrewsbury lost at the weekend to my old town, Rochdale, it was described by my pal George, as a rotten game. Bottom half of league one so what do you expect!
Larouci a doubt for this so interesting to see who starts at left back but other than that it’ll be more or less the same lads that start this. Hoping this time tho that we absolutely ‘do give a shit’ if we go 2 or 3 up as opposed to completely stopping playing like we did in the last game.
Even with the young lads I don’t see anything other than a home win, maybe around the 3-1 mark I reckon.

According to Critchley this is gonna be an u20 team going out.
They’ll have their work cut out for themselves.
I hope to catch a stream somewhere.

Lingard price tag
And what about us? Koulibaly? Will be 29 in the summer and would cost maybe 80 mill. And if we did go for him, isn’t that an admission that Lindelof isn’t good enough? Jadon Sancho? Will go to a big club.
Soumare? Will go to a big club. Werner? Will go to a big club. Van de Beek? Will go to a big club. Havertz? Will go to a big club. Maddison? Why sign for us when he can play CL football at Leicester? And the list goes on and on.
As the man said, United can no longer attract the top players. Time for the scouts to finally earn their money.

@Sympathy – 20m for a guy who hasn’t scored or assisted a single goal in the PL for over a year, and will only have one year left on his contract mate?? Methinks anything north of 5m to get rid of him once and for all would be just bloody marvellous!😂😂
Blacky
@blacky haha yes in reality it would but, considering he was touted for a 60m sale after the World Cup, think we can convince some Chinese or Italian club to part with those funds.
In reality, I’d be happy with a Snickers bar and a Diet Coke for him.
Sympathy for the Devils
Yeah he’ll go for around 8.75m i’d say. Didn’t Athletico take a punt on Trippier and it worked out well? Hopefully they’ll feel the same way in the summer.
The focus recently has been on getting players out of the club (albeit on loan!), but this summer is all about who is coming in and i think we need at least 3 superstars to add to Fernandes. I’ve got a sneaky suspicion we’ll keep hold of Pogba too…
happyhurling
@happy – The MEN are running a story today that Pogba has again told his teammates that he still wants out and that they all believe it’s for the best that he should go, so I reckon your “sneaky suspicion” is going the same way as many others have done down the years mate!😂😂😂

Jorginho for Chelsea captain
Saw Jorginho live, in what I think was his debut, playing the friendly game against Perth Glory. I must say, I was impressed right from the start, how he fitted into Sarri’s new team, and how he organised the players around him. He has that same vision that he requires in his role to direct his passes. Definitely should be our captain. He also has fight and desire. When Dave goes running up the wing to put one of his blind crosses in, that invariably gives the ball back to the opposition, Dave has no chance of giving instructions out to the team, when he is stuck down in the attacking corner of the pitch.
On the other hand Jorginho is their holding the back line in the centre of the field most of the time. In my opinion, an effective captain always needs to be a central player. It was a poor choice appointing Dave in the first place, and now we are stuck with him. I said a long time ago, that I can see Mason amount taking over captaincy eventually.

An effective captain should not have to be a central midfielder, over the years there have been captains who played on the wing or strikers who has done a wonderful job, it depends on personality, for one to be an effective captain, the must-have the personality to do so, two they must command the respect of the dressing room. and there should be big personalities in that dressing room. the Chelsea of the yesteryear which had JT, FL, PC, DD, AC and MB is a prime example.
Rather than concentrating on finding the next captain, we should concentrate on finding group leadership. yes, the captain is the figurehead, we need all players to take responsibility. and I understand these group we have now are young players who are having their first taste of the PL, in two to three years time, we will have leaders emerging from that group.

For me the best captain would be a GK or a CB. They can see what happens on the pitch from their position. Look at World Cup winners: Beckenbauer, Cannavaro (CB), Dino Zoff, Iker Casillas, Hugo Lloris (GK).
But anyone who has influence should be our captain. We had great captains in Wise and JT. And now we may be looking for a new captain for next season probably. I would like him to be someone who has roots at the club and an Englishman.

Chelsea man, I never said a central midfielder. I said a central player. All those names you mention wee central players apart from Ashley Cole
