Chelsea have been left disappointed after top transfer target Achraf Hakimi completed his move to Paris Saint-Germain on a five-year contract.
The 22-year-old has moved to the Parc des Princes having won the Serie A title under Antonio Conte in his only season at Inter Milan last term. The Morocco international was also a top target for the Champions League winners, who had matched PSG’s £51.3m transfer offer.
Upon his arrival in the French capital, Hakimi said: “I feel a lot of pride today. After my experiences in Spain, Germany and Italy, Paris Saint-Germain offers me the opportunity to discover a new championship under the colours of one of the most prestigious clubs in the world.
“I can’t wait to meet my new team-mates, the fans and feel the extraordinary fervour that reigns at the Parc des Princes.
“I share the same very high ambitions with the staff and the players. I will do everything to give my club what it expects of me. ”

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi added: “We are happy to welcome Achraf Hakimi to Paris.
“The signing of a player of this stature shows the level of our ambitions. We continue to build something very special.
“Achraf is only 22 years old, but he’s already established himself as one of the best full-backs in the world of football, and that’s the standard we set for ourselves at the club.
“I know Achraf will have a fantastic career with us. The whole club wish him every success under our colours.”
Busy summer for PSG
Hakimi becomes PSG’s third signing of a busy summer so far. He has followed former Liverpool star Gini Wijnaldum and defensive midfielder Danilo Pereira through the door.
As for Chelsea, they are now likely to switch their focus to other targets. Thomas Tuchel wants to build a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
