Chelsea could consider re-signing Jeremie Boga from Sassuolo as Barcelona express an interest in the winger, it is claimed.
Boga has thrived since leaving Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis, becoming a regular for Sassuolo over the past two seasons and starting the season in positive form.
According to Catalan publication Sport, Barcelona are now ready to present an offer for Boga as part of a partnership between themselves and Sassuolo.
As part of the agreement, Sassuolo would get first option on some Barcelona academy players, and Barca could sign some of the Italians’ strongest squad members.
However, it is reminded that Chelsea maintain the option to buy Boga back for the same £3.5m price they sold him for – which could turn out to be a bargain given his recent form.
With their transfer ban lifted, the Blues are ready to make moves in the January transfer window, and Boga would be a far cheaper option than Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, who is also believed to be a target.
Frank Lampard has been given hope in his pursuit of Zaha following reports that Palace had lined up Burnley’s Dwight McNeil as a replacement, but that doesn’t mean the Eagles will let the Ivory Coast star go on the cheap – meaning Chelsea could turn to his international teammate instead.
Boga is already enjoying the highest-scoring season of his career, reaching four goals from just 13 appearances in Serie A – including strikes against league leaders Inter Milan and reigning champions Juventus.
The 22-year-old had been at Chelsea’s academy since the age of 12, but opted for a new challenge in 2018 after spells on loan at Rennes, Granada and Birmingham City.
