Chelsea legend poised for shock Everton switch after ‘good offer’ tabled

An ex-Chelsea stalwart who spent a decade with The Blues appears on the verge of a reunion with Carlo Ancelotti at Everton.

The Toffees endured an underwhelming campaign, ultimately settling for a 12th-placed finish despite Ancelotti’s arrival.

One area of concern was their leaky defence, with a plethora of points dropped due to frailties at the back.

Now, according to The Sun, former three-time Premier League winner Branislav Ivanovic could be set to answer the call.

The outlet report that Everton have made a ‘good offer’ for the free agent who has spent the last three years with Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Ivanovic departed The Blues in 2017, but has maintained a high level of play in Russia.

The Serbian was a key part of the club last two league title wins, and even notched four goals as Zenit achieved the league and cup double last season.

And the article quotes him as saying his next move will “probably’ be at Goodison Park.

“I will probably continue my career at Everton,” said Ivanovic.

“I received a good offer from them, I will see how things will turn out.”

Ivanovic Zenit TEAMtalk

Ivanovic played under Ancelotti at Chelsea between 2009-2011, and that connection is set to hold Everton in good stead.

Interest from Red Star Belgrade has been speculated, but Ivanovic revealed no offer from the Serbian side has been made.

“So far, I have not received any offer from Red Star,” he continued. “If anyone calls me then I will consider the offer.

“Now, there is no need for me to be thinking about a move to Belgrade.”

Chelsea battling with Everton for left-back

Reguilon TEAMtalk

Meanwhile, Chelsea will submit their own offer for Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon in the “coming days” that will beat Everton’s latest bid, according to a report.

The 23-year-old has emerged as an exciting prospect in Europe after his loan spell with Sevilla.

The Spaniard played 31 times in LaLiga to help his side finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League.

Earlier reports suggested Tottenham were the early frontrunners to sign Regulion. However Everton made the first firm move last week with an £18million bid.

Now, Sky Sports News claims Chelsea have approached Sevilla to cement their interest in the player. What’s more, they will send their own offer to the Spanish club which will be worth more than the Toffees’ bid.
