Franck Kessie: Wanted by big clubs

Franck Kessie’s agent has revealed that all the Premier League heavyweights have shown an interest in signing the Atalanta midfielder.

It was recently reported that Chelsea had made a £21million bid for the rising star, but Serie A club Atalanta are said to be holding out for at least £34million if they are to part with the 20-year-old.

Agent George Atangana will apparently meet with Chelsea officials in London next week to further discuss a potential move, but they are not the only club to have shown an interest.

“We have a lot of interest from the Premier League – Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal,” he told Guardian sport.

“I cannot say at this stage how much he will cost but we are talking about one of the best young players in the world.

“But for us the most important thing is that the technical project is the right one for him.

“Franck is very young so we have to be very careful about his development.

“Chelsea are very interested and it is a great club but we must take our time to consider all the options.”

“Now we are in January so he has to play at the African Cup of Nations for Ivory Coast so I am not going to rush anything.”

Kessie saw a move to Sunderland break down in the summer over work permit complications, but he will have no such problem in this transfer window as he is now deemed a regular international for Ivory Coast.
