Chelsea, Liverpool ‘consider £20m move for Jamaican talent’

Leon Bailey: Signs deal with Leverkusen

Chelsea and Liverpool are both reported to have sent scouts to make final checks on Leon Bailey ahead of a possible January move for the Genk forward.

The winger, 19, was widely expected to leave Belgium for one of Europe’s top leagues at the end of the season, but the process has accelerated with both Roma and Bayer Leverkusen strongly intimating they are considering an offer for the player too.

And with Lyon, Nice, Everton and Bournemouth also registering their interest in Bailey, the Daily Mail say both Chelsea and Liverpool are in the process of assessing whether to lodge bids for the £20million-rated Jamaican.

Genk are keen to hang onto Bailey, but would consider an offer that would see their talented teen stay in Belgium before leaving ahead of next season.
