Chelsea, Liverpool ‘given green light to sign former Man Utd star’

Javier Hernandez

Liverpool and Chelsea have reportedly been given the green light to sign Javier Hernandez  – after it was claimed he’d fallen out with his team-mates at Bayer Leverkusen.

The former Manchester United striker has regularly been tipped to return to the Premier League but Leverkusen have always insisted they had no desire to sell the Mexican.

But according to Bildthe Bundesliga club are willing to sell the former Manchester United player “immediately” if a club offers €25m (£21m).

While the German paper believes no concrete offers have been made yet, Chicharito has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Chelsea in recent weeks and it’s claimed both clubs will step up their interest in the player before the transfer window closes.

Players playing for both Manchester United and Liverpool is rare in the game, with only Michael Owen and Paul Ince in recent memory donning the shirts of both clubs.

However, The Guardian reckons Bayer will try and hold on to the player until the summer before sanctioning his sale.
