Chelsea have reportedly made a £55million bid for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.
The Argentine forward is in the form of his life in Serie A with 22 goals in 24 appearances and he has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs, namely Real Madrid and Manchester United.
But now Chelsea are on the trail of the 25-year-old and TNT Sports claim Antonio Conte had made a £55million bid for the former Sampdoria striker as they bid to get to Icardi before Real start their summer spending.
The report claims Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara has received the offer, which is unlikely to be accepted by Inter, who are believed to rate him nearer to £100million.
Icardi is understood to have a release clause of £80million in his contract, which will become active in July.
Corriere dello Sport claimed Inter were looking to remove the clause in February and offer Icardi a new deal, improving his £4.1million per-season to £6.1million, along with a lucrative set of bonuses.
Icardi though has yet to sign up and extend his exiting deal, which expires in 2021.
