Chelsea make enquiries to sign Man Utd midfield target from Inter

Chelsea have reportedly made enquiries about signing a Manchester United midfield target who could move on in 2022.

A recent report from Calciomercato claimed that United are ‘seriously thinking’ about signing Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic, whose current deal in Italy runs out next summer. However, they are set to face a number of rivals to land the 28-year-old.

FcInterNews states that the Blues and French giants PSG are both monitoring the player’s situation.

For his part, Brozovic is said to have made it clear that he wants to stay at the San Siro. However, if he does then it will likely be on a discount, given Inter’s current financial woes.

Brozovic is represented by his father, Ivan – with talks set to take place over the midfielder’s future on October 14.

The report adds that a new deal can be closed for €6million per year, but Inter will try to get a discount. They plan to propose an annual salary of €5m.

While that may not be a major issue for Brozovic, it had led to clubs in sounder financial shape to ask about the player’s availability.

Inter could be forced to sell Spurs targets

Inter Milan could be forced to sell Spurs targets Lautaro Martinez and Milan Skriniar due to financial troubles, with more news on Dusan Vlahovic and Donny van de Beek.

FcInterNews states that there is a ‘first request for information’ from Thomas Tuchel’s side and PSG.

Both clubs are interested in free transfer deals for the midfielder, while Man Utd are still not of the running for a potential deal.

More information is expected to be disclosed next week, after Inter’s meeting with Brozovic’s representatives.

Assessing who will be the next Premier League manager to get the sack

Werner makes Chelsea admission

Meanwhile, Chelsea forward Timo Werner has admitted that he is disappointed with the amount of minutes he has received recently.

The 25-year-old’s place in the team appeared to come under threat following Romelu Lukaku’s arrival in the summer. That’s despite Thomas Tuchel insisting the pair could work together up front this season.

Werner struggled in front of goal last term and that pattern looks set to continue. He has managed just one Premier League goal in his first six appearances.

Before he opened his account, during the recent win over Southampton, Werner was used as a late substitute against Arsenal and Aston Villa.

His troublesome time at Stamford Bridge has resulted in links with other clubs. Atletico Madrid are rumoured to be monitoring his situation ahead of a bid in January.

Werner’s name has also been mentioned in a potential swap deal which would take Federico Chiesa to west London.

Werner vows to battle on

The Germany international has now spoken about his start to the campaign. He told German outlet Express (via Daily Mail): “The last few weeks have been difficult at Chelsea. After many years, I was suddenly a little behind and had to fight my way again.

“A career always goes up and down, never steadily upwards. But you learn to deal with it.

“I have to bite into it again, that challenges me. Of course, I would like to enjoy more minutes, so I give my best in training.

“I can’t be satisfied if I don’t play. Of course, I want to be a regular in a big team. But I’m not saying that if I don’t start 10 or 15 games before Christmas, I really want to leave.

“Things happen relatively quickly in football. I have to look at the bigger picture to make my decision.”

Werner will be hoping to start in Chelsea’s first game after the international break. They travel to Brentford on Saturday October 16.
