Chelsea make their move with €27m bid for Man Utd, Tottenham target

Krzysztof Piatek TEAMtalk

Chelsea have made an offer to AC Milan striker for striker Krzystof Piatek, according to reports in Italy.

The Serie A side are reportedly happy to allow the Poland international to leave with Rafael Leao and new recruit, 38-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic, ahead of him in the pecking order.

New Milan boss Stefano Pioli has no faith in Piatek and Sportmediaset via Sport Witness report that Milan are looking to sell the forward this month.

And while it’s suggested Piatek is “not agitating to leave Milan”, Pioli is keen to get rid and the club could look to cash in following the return of Ibrahimovic.

Italian journalist Louis Girardi claims the Blues have bid €27m for the striker, who is looking to get game time ahead of the 2020 European Championships this summer after being on the bench in the last three league games.

Girardi suggests Chelsea’s initial offer has been turned down, with plenty of other interest from the Premier League in the forward, who has scored four times from 14 Serie A starts this term.

Spurs have also been heavily linked with Piatek and earlier this month The Sun reported that Spurs had done a deal for Piatek and would pay an initial fee of £23.8million, with a further £4.2million to follow in add-ons.

That has not proved accurate, but they are not the only big club looking at the player with David Ornstein claiming Manchester United had made contact with the player’s representatives earliert this month as they look for a replacement for Marcus Rashford.

Ornstein claimed “United do have an element of interest there” whilst also reporting that Spurs were in pursuit of the 24-year-old.

He also claimed that Milan only want to sell the striker for €35m, otherwise clubs will have to include an option to buy in any potential loan deal until the end of the season.

Another Italian journalist Nicolo Shira does not have the deal as far on as Girardi.

Shira reports that Piatek’s agents have offered the striker to Chelsea and basically are hoping for a last week auction for Piatek.

The Januray demand for a striker is certainly outstripping supply with Olivier Giroud expected to join Inter Milan before the end of the window, leaving Chelsea even shorter up front.
