Chelsea midfielder makes AC Milan pledge after torrid start to Serie A life

On-loan Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has pledged to turn his doubters into believers while at AC Milan.

Chelsea shelled out £40million to sign the Frenchman from Monaco in the summer of 2017, however he failed to impress during his first season at Stamford Bridge.

Maurizio Sarri then allowed him to move to the San Siro on a loan deal with option to turn it permanent next summer.

However, the 24-year-old also struggled upon his arrival at Milan, even being whistled by supporters, though his recent performances suggest he is beginning to settle.

Bakayoko told Sky Sport Italia: “I don’t like being jeered, but I understand it. I hope they applaud me soon.

“I have done good things but I am only at the beginning. I hope to be decisive and to help Milan re-enter the top four in Serie A.

“Franck Kessie? He has helped me adjust a lot, above all with the language. I hope to speak Italian soon.

“The 4-4-2 is the formation I prefer, but even in a 4-3-3 I found myself playing well in the last game.

“My position has changed, but I believe that I have done well. I have been able to help the team more.

“I am upset about the result against Juventus, but this is football. I am happy with how I played.”
