Chelsea are reportedly ready to launch a £38.2million ‘back-up-plan’ after giving up on signing Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan.
According to the Daily Star, the Blues are now in pursuit of Bayern Munich’s Arturo Vidal as they look to re-invest the £60million they will receive when Oscar officially leaves for China.
The switch in targets comes after Chelsea saw three bids rejected for Nainggolan in the summer, and also a whopping £51million bid in the lead-up to the January transfer window – according to Italian sources.
Conte, who may also lose Cesc Fabregas within the next month, wants to strengthen his midfield more than any other department as he prepares to lead Chelsea into the title run-in.
