Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal to bring Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino to Stamford Bridge for £23million in the summer.

Frank Lampard – following the disappointment of the lack of January signings – has told the club he wants to make four further additions to his squad to follow Hakim Ziyech through the doors at the end of the season.

The Blues will prioritise a move for a central midfielder and 28-year-old Inter star Vecino has been identified as a realistic target ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

Chelsea are willing to meet the €28million (£23m) fee Inter are demanding for the Uruguay international, reports The Daily Express.

Inter head coach Antonio Conte is looking to cash in on Vecino – who came close to leaving Inter in January – in order to accumulate funds for his own transfers, including a potential move for Arturo Vidal.

The experienced midfielder has spent much of his professional career in Italy after departing Nacional to join Fiorentina back in 2013. He had two successful loans with Cagliari and Empoli before completing a permanent move to Inter.
