Tahith Chong has revealed that he has been offered a new deal by Manchester United, but is not entertaining the subject of his future at Old Trafford just yet.
The 19-year-old’s current deal runs out at the end of the season and having featured in only two Premier League games so far this term, reports in Italy suggested that Chong had chosen not to renew his terms.
What’s more, reigning Serie A champions Juventus have been linked with snapping the player up on a free but speaking to Fox Sports, Chong addressed such claims.
“It’s early right now,” he said when asked about his situation at United. “I’m still a player of Manchester United and the season is in full swing. My focus is on that.
“The contract will come naturally. I am now focusing on this season. Yes, they offered [a new deal], but at the moment the season is in full swing.”
Chong is one of a bunch of United youngsters – including Brandon Williams and Mason Greenwood – to get action dotted around various competitions under boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this term.
Alongside his two league appearances, Chong, in particular, has also played once in both the Europa League and EFL Cup.
