Coleman offers Real Madrid man Bale career advice

Wales boss Chris Coleman has urged Gareth Bale to go and play where he is happy.

Coleman’s future in charge of the Principality remains up in the air after they failed to reach the World Cup play-offs, but yesterday he was asked about the future of Bale.

Bale missed over a month of the season at Real Madrid with a calf problem, and now the 28-year-old has injured his thigh in training.

Reports in Spain have suggested that Real are ready to cash in on the £85million-rated winger and Coleman wants the player to go where he is happy.

“I would like to see Gareth wherever he is going to be happy, that is what I would like,” said Coleman. “Wherever he is happy because wherever he is happy he plays great football.

“He comes with us, he is happy and we see an amazing player. Wherever he is not happy then he shouldn’t be there.

“If he is happy in Madrid then fine, if he is not then he needs to go and play somewhere where he is happy.”

Bale’s latest setback in training could sideline him for six weeks and Coleman, whose preference is to see Bale stay at the Bernabeu, if he stays on with Wales.

“Balo will be concerned he has picked up another niggle,” added Coleman.

“Sometimes the harder you work to get back, the longer it takes you to get back because you pick up niggles.

“He is finding that out and now and it is a shame and a loss for Madrid.

“I think they need him now and for us obviously we are always a force when you have someone like that in your ranks.

“If I am going to be the Welsh manager for two more years or four more years, whatever it is, I would like to see him stay at Real Madrid.

“OK he has picked up a lot of injuries but generally the Premier League is much tougher than La Liga in terms of the physicality.”
