Comparing Jadon Sancho’s 2019-20 stats to LFC’s Salah, Mane & Firmino

Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho has been heavily linked with a summer switch to Liverpool, but how would he fit in their front three?

The Daily Telegraph report that Dortmund are willing to sell Sancho this summer, while the Daily Mail have suggested Liverpool have registered their interest in the winger.

We’ve compared the 19-year-old’s Bundesliga stats from 2019-20 to the corresponding Premier League stats for his potential competition for a place in Liverpool’s famous front three, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Goals and assists

Sancho bagged 12 Bundesliga goals in 2018-19 and has already matched that tally this season after just 19 league appearances.

He has also registered 13 assists for his team-mates, leaving him with an impressive record of a goal or assist every 61.6 minutes.

Salah has been Liverpool’s most productive forward in the Premier League this season, with 14 goals and six assists, equating to a direct goal contribution every 94.5 minutes.

Mane (11 goals and six assists at one every 104.9 minutes ) and Firmino (eight goals and seven assists at one every 138.2 minutes) both trail some way behind Sancho and Salah.

Passing and attacking

It’s no surprise that Sancho has 13 assists this season, given the 19-year-old creates an average of 2.7 chances per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga.

Liverpool’s forwards can’t match that tally, but Salah and Mane aren’t too far behind (both 2.0 per 90), while Firmino has the lowest total (1.6).

Sancho leads the way with his pass completion rate as well at 84.1%. That is followed by Mane (81.4%), Firmino (79.5%) and Salah (77.2%).

The Dortmund star is also renowned for his dribbling abilities, completing 3.1 successful dribbles per 90 at a success rate of 53.4%.

Mane is second behind Sancho with 2.0 successful dribbles per 90 minutes, but he has a better completion rate of 62.5%.

Firmino completes the third most with 1.8 per 90 at a success rate at 56.2%. Salah finds himself at the bottom of the pile, completing 1.6 per 90 but with a success rate of 61.5%.

Defensive contributions

Sancho may have to work on his defensive attributes if he moved to Liverpool, and his average of 0.6 tackles per 90 minutes betters only Salah, who averages 0.5 per 90.

Mane (1.6) and Firmino (1.1) both record significantly better averages than Sancho in this regard.

However, Sancho does come out on top for interceptions per 90 minutes. His total (0.6) betters Mane (0.5), Salah (0.3) and Firmino (0.1).
